Bus no. 24 stops on Marchmont Road, heading towards the West End via Lothian Road or to the New Royal Infirmary on the A7. Bus no 5 stops on Grange Road, heading towards London Road and the top of Leith Walk, or to Morningside. From the south - follow either the A7, A701 or A702 into Edinburgh off the by-pass.
On the A7 or A701 continue into Edinburgh until you reach signposts for the A700 (Melville Drive) and directions to the west. On Melville Drive, head west until the 3rd traffic lights, where you turn left into Argyle Place (signposted to the Royal Hospital for Sick Children.
For Roseneath Apartment: In Argyle Place, turn second right, just before the Bicycle Works into Roseneath Terrace. At the end, turn left into the one way street, Roseneath Place.
For Gladstone Apartment - continue in Argyle Place to the crossroads and turn Left into Warrender Park Road/Sciennes Road, go past the Sick Kids hospital on your left, then 2nd Left into Gladstone Terrace. There is Zone 7 pay and display parking in the street, for up to 6 hours.
On the A702 to Roseneath Apartment: continue straight on through Morningside and Bruntsfield heading towards Edinburgh city centre. Turn right into Whitehouse Loan (first Right after you have reached Bruntsfield Links, after the Bruntsfield Links hotel on your left), then after the pedestrian crossing turn second left (the first left is one way no-entry) into Warrender Park Road. At Marchmont Road, either cross over and continue as far as the road block and drive into/park in Marchmont Crescent, parallel to Roseneath Place, or turn Left into Marchmont Road and then first Right into Meadow Place, and immediately second right (ie the narrow street just after a wall separating it from Marchmont Crescent) to drive up Roseneath Place.
To get to Gladstone Apartment from the A702, go through Morningside and up the hill, continue straight on past Morrisons supermarket and Newbattle Terrace on the right side, then at the traffic lights near the top of the hill, turn Right into Church Hill, then left and first right into Strathearn place, continue straight on through two crossroads with traffic lights (the road becomes Grange Road) then 5th on left into Tantallon Place. At the end turn right into Sciennes Road and first left into Gladstone Terrace.
If you are approaching from the West or North and do not know Edinburgh, it is much easier to continue along the bypass and enter from the South along the A702 (at the Hillend exit) as described above. Much of the city centre and periphery is currently disrupted by long-term road works to install the tram system.
From the East/A1 either take the bypass and enter Edinburgh by the A7 as described above, or continue on the A1 into Edinburgh. Continue on the A1 turning Left at the traffic lights after the dual carriage way ends (Milton Road, still the A1) and continue on this road through various roundabouts and traffic lights. Soon after the road narrows to single carriage way each way, and after a right hand bend in the road, turn Left at the traffic lights into Duddingston Road West, heading towards Duddingston and Holyrood Park. (if you reach the a petrol garage (Esso?)on your left you've gone through the junction where you should have turned left). Shortly after, On a left hand bend, turn right into a narrow cobbled street through Duddingston and Holyrood Park (road is closed on Sundays). Continue through the park and turn left at the roundabout to go towards south Edinburgh. At the traffic lights at the T-junction by the commonwealth pool turn Right onto the A7 and first left into East Preston Street, then straight across the traffic lights at Nicholson Street into Hope Street, then straight across the traffic lights into Melville Drive. Follow directions thereafter as above for entry from south (A7/A701).
