Airlink Buses run frequently between the airport and the city centre, or you can book a transfer direct door to door with the Edinburgh Shuttle, a shared transport service on mini-coaches. A taxi is the most expensive option to travel between the airport and city.

Bus no. 24 stops on Marchmont Road, heading towards the West End via Lothian Road or to the New Royal Infirmary on the A7. Bus no 5 stops on Grange Road, heading towards London Road and the top of Leith Walk, or to Morningside. Many other buses stop nearby on Nicholson Street/Clerk Street and Lothian Road/Bruntsfield Place. See Lothian Buses Route Map here (we are close to the Royal Hospital for Sick Children marked on the bus map, zoom in by moving the zoom level red marker on the left side).

Directions to reach Roseneath Apartment by car

Note that there is only Zone Parking in Roseneath Place. Metered parking is available in the street parallel to Roseneath Place, Marchmont Crescent, and also Warrender Park Road, Argyle Place, as well as the side roads and Marchmont Crescent south of Warrender Park Road, where parking is cheaper. Make sure you take note of which parking bays are Zone (Permit Holders) Only or dual Zone and metered or metered only, and you have a valid paid ticket displayed. The Parking Attendants are voracious! Permit/parking ticket hours are between 08:30 to 17:30. Outwith these hours, parking is free.

From the south - follow either the A7, A701 or A702 into Edinburgh off the by-pass.

On the A7 or A701 continue into Edinburgh until you reach signposts for the A700 (Melville Drive) and directions to the west. On Melville Drive, head west until the 3rd traffic lights, where you turn left into Argyle Place (signposted to the Royal Hospital for Sick Children. In Argyle Place, turn second right, just before the Bicycle Works into Roseneath Terrace. At the end, turn left into the one way street, Roseneath Place.

Melville Drive, approaching the junction with Argyle Place Argyle Place, from Melville Drive. Turn Right at the Bicycle Works. Further up the street are several fresh grocery shops, an organic delicatessen, Thai restaurant, and the Argyle Pub/Hide Bar.

On the A702, coming through Morningside and Bruntsfield into Edinburgh, turn right into Whitehouse Loan (first Right after you have reached Bruntsfield Links, after the Bruntsfield Links hotel on your left), then after the pedestrian crossing turn second left (the first left is one way no-entry) into Warrender Park Road. At Marchmont Road, either cross over and continue as far as the road block and drive into/park in Marchmont Crescent, parallel to Roseneath Place, or turn Left into Marchmont Road and then first Right into Meadow Place, and immediately second right (ie the narrow street just after a wall separating it from Marchmont Crescent) to drive up Roseneath Place.

If you are approaching from the West or North and do not know Edinburgh, it is much easier to continue along the bypass and enter from the South along the A702 (at the Hillend exit) as described above. Much of the city centre and periphery is currently disrupted by long-term road works to install the tram system.

From the East/A1 either take the bypass and enter Edinburgh by the A7 as described above, or continue on the A1 into Edinburgh. Continue on the A1 turning Left at the traffic lights after the dual carriage way ends (Milton Road, still the A1) and continue on this road through various roundabouts and traffic lights. Then turn Left at the traffic lights before a petrol garage (Esso?) into Duddingston Road West, heading towards Duddingston and Holyrood Park. On a left hand bend, turn right into a narrow cobbled street through Duddingston and Holyrood Park (road is closed on Sundays. Continue through the park and turn left at the roundabout to go towards south Edinburgh. At the traffic lights at the T-junction by the commonwealth pool turn Right onto the A7 and first left into East Preston Street, then straight across the traffic lights at Nicholson Street into Hope Street, then straight across the traffic lights into Melville Drive. Follow directions thereafter as above for entry from south (A7/A701).
